Exercising your Freedom of Expression
What do I need to
do so I am able to demonstrate?
If a person wishes to demonstrate they must
obtain a demonstration permit from the City of Miami Police
Department Special Events office located at 400 NW 2nd Ave.
For details, call (305) 579-6440.
The individual applying for the permit will
need to fill out an application and submit a copy of their
driver’s license. On the application, the person will
need to state the purpose of the demonstration, number of
participants, requested demonstration site, start and end
time, and date of occurrence. There is no charge for this
type of permit, however, the police department has the right
to determine the final demonstration site, and time and
limitations that apply based on other prior requests. This
is done to ensure that everyone's safety and First Amendment
rights are protected.
The applicant must maintain a copy of this
permit with them at all times while at the demonstration
site.
